Rose Lee Bailey received her wings on March 12, 2022 at Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley, Virginia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Elijah Baker and Mazzie Finney Flemming and was born on February 13, 1942 in Gargatha, Virginia.
Rose Lee was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. At an early age, she joined the Metompkin Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Douglas. Rose Lee attended faithfully until her health began to decline. She was employed at the Hallwood Cannery Factory for twenty years. In later years, she began working at the Arcadia Nursing Home under the direction of White’s Brother for fifteen years until her retirement.
Rose Lee loved to make cakes and more cakes. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching all the daytime stories. On Sunday mornings, if she didn’t attend church, she would enjoy listening to gospel music on the radio and watching preaching on TV. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
Rose Lee was the joy of the family and always kept something going. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Her family was her greatest joy, if you needed to know anything about either of them, you could call her because she kept in contact with all of her family. Her genuine love and generosity will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Rose Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Mayo and her brother, Orris Baker.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Larry Bailey of Nelsonia, VA; one daughter, Lisa Bailey of Clayton, DE; three grandchildren, Lynice Mears, Larry Mears, and Shykeva Mears; six great-grandchildren, Tyjanea Mears, Rykeam Mears, Brianna Mears, Jaden Mears, Lamijan Mears, and Brian Powell; longtime friend, Sadra Bailey; three sisters, Rachel Baker of Accomac, VA, Frances West, and Daisey Bailey, both of Parksley, VA; a brother, Ross (Martha) Bailey of Parksley, VA; devoted caregiver, Virgie Lewis; and a host of relatives and friends.
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
