Obituary for Sharon Louise Grant-Reid

Sharon Louise Grant-Reid was born on November 25, 1965 in Accomac, Virginia to the late Albert Grant and Jean “Jean Baby” Grant-Hargis. On Monday, August 30, 2021, God came down and picked another beautiful flower to add to His garden.

Sharon received her education in the Accomack County Public Schools. She worked for Parks and Recreation and other odd jobs until her health began to fail. She volunteered, alongside her mother, with the Catsbridge Community Action Group, which enabled college students to travel from Boston, Massachusetts to Painter, Virginia twice a year to clean up the community.

Sharon joined New Mt. Zion Baptist Church at a young age and remained a member until God called her home. She sang on the special choir and served on the kitchen committee. She was also a member of the Chosen Few Group.

On August 12, 1999, Sharon married the late Larry Reid. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye and could do no wrong in her eyesight.

Sharon was a kind-spirit with a beautiful soul and heart of gold. She was always loving and a pleasure to be around. If you knew her you couldn’t help but love her. She was the kind of person that you would call with your troubles, whether it was good or bad. Sharon was a “Jack of all trades” and could fix anything. She loved to watch TV and go to church when she was able. She also loved to cook and would feed anybody, her specialty was her famous macaroni and cheese.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Cassandra Grant; grandson, Legend Grant; brothers-in-law, Isreal “Pee-Wee” Williams and Levona “Tip” Sharpe; and aunt, Lola Mae Reid.

Sharon leaves to cherish her loving memories: her son, Tyron “Ty” Grant, Sr. of Grove City, MD; daughter, Tyshon “Angel” Grant of Melfa,VA; grandchildren, Aniyah Grant, Tyron “MJ” Grant, Jr., and Di’Vonna Grant; sisters, Roshell Sharpe of Parksley, VA, Victoria Winters of Dover, DE, and Diane Williams of Melfa, VA; two aunts, Maggie Beach of Painter, VA and Ethel (James) Giddens of Belle Haven, VA; uncle, Berkley (Nina) Chandler, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; nieces and nephews, Dykecia, Marshona, Alvin, Sr., Keyron, Sr., Ali, Ian, Chazmine, Jayla, Alvin, Jr., Peyton, Syncere, Zyshon, Devontaye “Man-Man,” Kevontaye “Boogie,” Kemaya, Jahkeya, Keyron, Jr., Chayce, Genesis, Tamaya, Latoya, Larzar, Elijah, Bruce, Kiara, and Letitia; great-aunt, Margarite Rogers of Nassawadox, VA and Carrie Bailey of Belle Haven, VA; mother-in-law, Bessie Reid of Belle Haven, VA; best friend of thirty-eight years, Evangelist Dorothy Giddens; special friends/cousins, Roland Jackson, Juanita Downing, and Brenda Finney; and a host of extended family and friends. She loved them all!
