Obituary for Shirley Virginia Bibbins

On Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 3:27 PM, a loving sister, aunt, niece, and cousin made her transition and received her heavenly wings. Shirley Virginia Bibbins was born on September 2, 1949 in Accomack County, Virginia to the late James Thomas Bibbins and Margaret Frances Custis.

Shirley was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. She worked in the deli at Red & White Convenience Store in Parksley for a short period of time.

At a young age, Shirley accepted Christ as her personal savior. In 1991, she joined Accomac Baptist Bible Church. A few years later, she joined Macedonia AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Donald F. White, Sr. She worshipped faithfully until her health began to fail.

Shirley loved all people and greeted everyone with a smile. In 2009, she became a resident at Shore Life Care, now Shore Health & Rehab Center. She could be found singing and dancing in the hallways daily in her wheelchair. Shirley loved when churches would come to fellowship with the residents. She loved gospel music and praising the Lord. Her loving, sweet spirit will be missed at the nursing home.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clarence Duffy and two brothers, James Lee Bibbins and Calvin Bibbins.

She leaves to cherish her fondest memories: three sisters, Barbara White (Rufus), Elaine Mears (Rev. Barry Mears), both of Accomac, VA, and Joyce Bibbins (Michael) of New Church, VA; two brothers, James Otis Bibbins (April) of Portsmouth, VA and Jackie Williams (Arlene) of Temperanceville, VA; one aunt, Agnes Blake of Wilmington, DE; special nephews, Terence, Keyonte’, and Tre’Quan; special nieces, Tinya and Tywanda; and a host of other relatives and friends.
