Obituary for Shirley M. Bibbins (Mason)

Shirley Mae Mason Bibbins was born on February 20, 1954, in Onley, Virginia to the late Edward R. “PeeWee” Mason Sr., and Magdeline L. Mason. She grew up in Accomac, Virginia.

Shirley received her education in Accomack County, Virginia. She was very creative and had a passion for artistry and the culinary arts. She received multiple art scholarships from several institutions, including the Art Institution of Philadelphia. Shirley took a break from school to work with her mother in the agriculture farm industry.

In 1972, she married Saunders Willie Bibbins, Sr. and God blessed them with six children. She later returned to school to achieve her GED at Eastern School Community College in Melfa, Virginia.

Shirley was friendly, easy going, and had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. She was a nurturer and giver with a heart of gold. Shirley enjoyed the finer things in life. Which included fashion, art, music, good food, and shopping. She loved to coordinate her outfits from head to toe. You could catch her at Roses or a Walmart near you. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was very close to her mother, whom she loved dearly. She loved taking and receiving pictures from family and friends. Shirley captured every moment from the beginning to the end.

Shirley transitioned to her eternal life on April 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother, Magdeline L. Mason; father, Edward R. “PeeWee” Mason Sr.; sister, Sarah Bradley; brother, Edward R. “Buck” Mason, Jr.

She will be forever remembered by her three daughters, Sheila Ames, Yvonne Bibbins, and Cassandra Bibbins; three sons, Saunders Bibbins, Jr., Gerard Bibbins, and Terrell “TJ” Bibbins; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, George “G.I.” Strand and Stanley L. “Tom” Mason; three sisters, Frances Allen, Maryann Beamon, and Evelyn Logan; and countless relatives and friends.
