Obituary for Shirley Elizabeth Mable

Shirley Elizabeth Mable, beloved daughter of Geneva Turner Murray and the late William M. Jubilee, was born on April 20, 1950 in Nassawadox, Virginia. She departed this life on May 5, 2021 at VCU Health Care in Richmond, Virginia.

Shirley received her early education in the public schools of Accomack County. At the age of thirteen, she relocated to New York and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in New York, New York. Upon graduation, she entered the workforce as secretary in the legal industry.

While in New York, Shirley met and married the love of her life, Edward Mable. Their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters. In the late 80s, she and her family moved back to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She began working at the Nandua Seafood Company in Hacksneck, Virginia until her retirement.

Shirley was a funny, caring, and loving individual, who was loved by many. Her friends knew she was someone they could always depend on no matter what the circumstances were. While she was sweet and loving, she was also very direct and didn’t bite her tongue for anyone.

Shirley loved to cook in her leisure, even when you tried to make her stop she wouldn’t give up. She also enjoyed eating Butterfingers and watching TV. At any time of the day or night, you could find her watching criminal shows on the A & E station or any cooking show.
