Obituary for Tamara Keshona "MeeMee" Hargis

Tamara Keshona Hargis was born in Easton, Maryland on June 1, 1998 to Mary Lofland and Glenn Hargis Sr. She was affectionately known to family and friends as “MeeMee.” At the age of 23, on September 29, 2021, Tamara passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

Tamara was a 2017 graduate of Nandua High School where she was a member of the chorus. She gave her life to Christ and was a member of Anointed Word Deliverance Ministries Church of God in Christ. Tamara also worshipped at New Allen Memorial AME Church where she was on the Praise Dance Team, Youth Choir, and Junior Stewardess Board. She lived a life of dedication to God. Her commitment to God’s purpose and calling on her life was reflected in her quiet nature, introspection, and support for loved ones.

MeeMee was the youngest of five children and enjoyed spending time with her family. She would arrange family get-togethers and introduced “Sibling Day.” These were the highlights for the family. Tamara was a poet and in the process of completing a book of her works. She celebrated others no matter the occasion and encouraged anyone in her path to follow their hearts.

Tamara was predeceased by her grandparents, Virginia Smith-Wilson and Sylvanus Lofland Jr.

Tamara is survived by her parents, Mary Lofland of Exmore, VA and Glenn Hargis Sr. of Salisbury, MD; sisters, La’Roya Byrd of Birdsnest, VA, Tamika Hargis of Parksley, VA, and Tanorya (Jeffrey) Kromer of Exmore, VA; brother, Glenn (LaShae) Hargis Jr. of Painter, VA; grandmother, Mary Lofland; one niece; five nephews; nine aunts; seven uncles; sister by heart, Raffinee (Jay) Brewer; best friends, Malaysia Wilson and Alphonso Baines; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
