Obituary for Theodore Roosevelt "Theo" Graves
Theodore Roosevelt Graves, the beloved son of the late Edward Graves, Sr. and Maybelle Graves Spady, was born on October 15, 1941 in Cherrystone, Virginia. He gained his wings on March 8, 2021, at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia.
Theodore was educated in the Northampton County Public School system. He held various jobs to include: Webster’s Farm, Northampton Growers, and Perdue Farms, in sanitation. In later years, Theodore left Perdue Farms to pursue a career as a truck driver; a skill which he taught himself. He began his career at Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, and dedicated many years of service. He also worked at the Feed Mill in Snow Hill, Maryland. As the years went by, Theodore decided to return to Perdue Farms as a live haul driver and drove until his health began to fail.
In 2016, Theodore left Dreamland Trailer Park and moved with his daughter, Rownite, in Parksley, Virginia. His favorite pas times were listening to music, going to Delmar and Englishtown race tracks, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2014, when the Los Angeles Dodgers played the Philadelphia Phillies and they had a no-hitter game, it was a special moment for him because he had his great-grandson, Omari with him.
The family was everything to Theodore, especially when his first grandchild was born. He was finally a ”Pop-Pop” and you couldn’t tell him anything. In the last couple of years, his daughter, Rownite, became his primary caregiver along with her mother, Maggie.
In addition to his parents, Theodore was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Graves, Jr. and James Graves, Sr.; daughter, Gloria A. Graves; stepson, Robbie Dennis; and a special friend that was like a brother, Elwood Miles, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: three daughters, Annette (Richard) White of Hampton, VA, Rownite Stevens of Parksley, VA, and Tammy Dennis of Norfolk, VA; son, Bryant Dennis, Sr. of GA; nine grandchildren, Otis (Shontelle), Kevon, Eric (Nyerah), Donte, Zecari, Bryant, Jr., Zion, Kayla, and Neveah; four great-grandchildren, Omari, Omere, Avion, and Iyla; sister, Beverly Davis of Painter, VA; brother, Thomas (Ethel) Graves of Newport News, VA; step-children that he helped raise, Cynthia Dennis, Bobbie Dennis, Trudy Collins, and David Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
