Vanessa Dale Poulson was born to the late Judson Garrison and Lucille Poulson on October 05, 1953 in Treherneville, Virginia. She departed life on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia.
Vanessa was raised and educated in Accomack County, Virginia. After school, she took on the responsibility of taking care of her mother Lucille Poulson until her death in 1982. Later on, she worked at Perdue Farms for a short period of time. She later moved to Maryland with her sister, Lucille. She enjoyed spending time with Lucille and Frances when she would visit.
Vanessa was a very outspoken, caring, and loving mother to many. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and sitting in her recliner. Some of the favorite things that she liked to cook were fried chicken, pork chops, cakes, and pies. She especially enjoyed cooking applesauce cakes, apple dumplings, 7up cakes, and apple pies. Her brothers loved her cooking (especially lasagna), so they would stop by religiously to eat.
During her later years, Vanessa was placed in a nursing home where she enjoyed spending time with her roommate, Janice Piland. They both would enjoy the food that her son and daughter-in- law would bring them. Vanessa would especially love the shrimp. She recently requested more shrimp but unfortunately, she fell ill and wasn’t able to enjoy it.
In addition to her parents, Vanessa was preceded in death by her significant other, Curtis Giddens; siblings, Judson Garrison II, Deloris Garrison-Justice, Emerson Poulson, William C. Garrison, Randolph Gunter, Corine Helen Clark, Kenneth Gunter and Robert Poulson.
Vanessa is survived by her son, Curtis Poulson (Yvonne) and daughter Antionette Howell (Ronald); two grandchildren, Shamia Showell (Demyron) and Travonta Ivery; three great-grandchildren, Demarion, Alijah, and Sariah; three sister, Lucillie Duffy, Frances Titus, and Rebecca Gunter; eight brothers, Leonard Poulson (Mary), Larry Poulson, Louis Poulson, Charles Gunter (Karen), Avon Garrison, Allen Gunter (Bertha), Curtis Gunter, and Ned Gunter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
