Obituary for Vladimir James "Hercules" Burrows

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, our family circle was broken when God called one of his own, Vladimir James Burrows, home to be with him. He was born on March 26, 1972 to Katie Mae Burrows and the late Kenneth Smith in Nassawadox, Virginia.

Vladimir, affectionately known as “James,” was educated in public schools of Accomack County. In later years, he attended the Eastern Shore Community College to further his education. He entered the workforce early in life to help to provide for his family. James found his passion in the trucking industry and was known as “Hercules” to his fellow truckers. He began working for J & N Transport and dedicated many years to this company. Following his employment with J & N, he worked for several different companies until he ventured out on his own. James was currently owner and operator of his own trucking company. He devoted over thirty years to the trucking industry.

James could be considered a “Gentle Giant.” He had a caring and loving spirit and often did good deeds for strangers. His family was his number one priority; he would do anything to take care of his family. His sons were his pride and joy and he was delighted to be a new grandfather. James was also protective over his mother and his sisters.

In his leisure, James enjoyed cooking was famous for his grilling skills and special barbecue sauces. He also didn’t mind expressing his political views with family and friends on his Facebook post. James also dedicated his time to coach basketball and football at Nandua High School.

James was preceded in death his father, Kenneth Smith and grandmother, Pauline Richardson.

Left to cherish his loving memories are his sons, Vladimir DiAndre, Brendon James, and Xavier Shemar; granddaughter, Alanious; mother, Katie; sisters, Stebby (Jeramey), and Tricia; brothers, Angelo “Blue” and Kenneth “Red;” aunts, Deborah, Dot, and Carolyn; uncles, Paul, John, Joe, Hebrew, and Tom; godson, Wesley Shrieves; special friend, Tysha Chambliss; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lovingly and sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
