Will Rogers Burton, also known as “Moe,” was born to the late Walter Burton and Veris Beach Burton, in Wachapreague, Virginia. He departed this life on May 18, 2021 at his residence in Accomac, Virginia.
Will was educated in the public schools of Accomack County, Virginia. He joined the workforce at an early age at Reginald Stubbs Seafood in Chincoteague, Virginia. Moe worked for Rick Hall in the farming industry for the majority of his life.
On May 20, 1962, he joined in holy matrimony with Alice Bailey and their union was blessed with two daughters, Janice and Monica. They shared fifty-eight years of marital bliss.
Moe enjoyed going to the racetrack to watch horse racing and watching his favorite baseball team, The Dodgers, play on TV. Another favorite pastime was spending time with his family. His presence will surely be missed.
In addition to his parents, Moe was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Burton and James Burton; and his sisters, Daisey Turlington and Rosetta Bailey.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of fifty-eight years, Alice Burton; two daughters, Janice (Eugene) Matthews of Pocomoke, MD and Monica (James) Brickhouse of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Ivory (Leston) Wright, Ebony (John, Jr.) Williams, Jaterria Brickhouse,, Eugene Matthews, III, and Ja’Mez Brickhouse; seven great-grandchildren, Aja, Ava, Avery, Nahkiya, Jayla, Layla, and Sebastian; two brothers, Wellington (Narcia) Burton and Lewis (Mary) Burton; three sisters, Shirley (Melvin) Sheppard, Gracie (Michael) Knox, and Jean Mapp; two sisters-in-law, Viola Custis and Elaine Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
